Are you using "slow" or "fast" mode on the VII? Do you see a difference if you use teh other mode? Does one light with the VII on "fast" take longer to recycle than in the wall (or by specs, which is 1 second). I suspect an output voltage issue on the VII, but this info will help.

I have the same problem when using two 400AB, and vagabond II with two CSR+ and CC. I can't get them to flash, red dump light stays lit, and flash will not fire. Modeling lamp flickers on one. All this with a freshly charged VBII. On CC the yellow bars stay yellow...

I forgot to mention that this is regardless of one light or two, or whether I use the fast/slow modes on the VBII. I've measured the output voltage after fully charging, and after 1 hour of trying to work this out: it is always at 119.3 VAC.

The bars to be more concerned about are the white/gray ones. At the very bottom, under the green bars, you should have white bars, indicating the channel is recognized and on. Gray bars mean it is recognized and set to standby. In standby teh bar that would be blue will also be grayed out.

If you have these bars, use the "refresh" command on the CC (this is on the mainscreen on v29 firmware). if you are using v22 or v27 firmware, select all channels, and press the right hand button, they should all fire. From this point all functions should be as normal.

How do i tell version? I just bought CC 2 weeks ago. I don't see grey bars. I do have a refresh command on main screen but doesn't seem to do anything.

There was a thread somewhere stating that v29 was included as of some serial number. I got my CC (serial# is 002123) about the same time as you, and it came with v29 pre-installed.

I suspect mine is v29. S/n 2061. Just retried hooking up, and grey bars are on underneath channel/light number. Yet dump light remains red on one light, when I try 2nd light it stays green on 2nd/red on 1st, and neither will fire or meter...

Found it on the paulcbuff.com website:

•All Cyber Commanders with serial numbers 001915 or higher were shipped with version 29 and no update is required.

if you are getting a gray bar, and not a white one, go into the menu to "light settings" and select the appropriate channel (or all channels) and set "power" to "standby" then back to "on". Setting to standby first (especially if you select all channels) ensures all channels get the switch. be sure you are not changing channels thinking you are changing settings.

Make sure you are going through the "Open from Studio" proceedures as well, and not skipping to "Spec lights" first.
