Sorry if the question sounds dumb. I'm completely new to studio strobes. I have searched everywhere but I can't find the answer to my question.

I have a Lastolite 24x24 softbox for hotshoe flashes. I'm interested in the Einstein monolight. Is there a way to use the Ezybox with it?

Can't say for sure, as we do not have access to that product. I have seen knock offs that fit a 5.5" speedring insert, which then could mate to an AB, however your specific model may vary. Also, if it is designed for speedlites, the material used may not tolerate the temperatures given off by the model lamp.

Also, is that 24x24 inches or centimeters?

This is the model I have:

They sell a speedring that fits the AB and the WL but I don't know if any will fit the Einstein:

All of our current lights use the same mounting ring. If they work for one, they will work for all of them. The only lights that would not work with that speedring would be the old 5,000/10,000 lights (look like a paint bucket).

An AB/Balcar speed ring insert that has a diameter of 6" (152mm) will generally work well with folding softboxes like the Lastolite EZYbox that you have. Even better is the Kacey AB adapter (http://www.kaceyenterprises.com/?page_id=481) which is a bit over 6" in diameter. I've used it successfully to mount a Cheetah QBox24 folding softbox on an Einstein:

While I don't own the 24" EZYbox, I do own a 15" EZYbox and the Kacey AB adapter fits it very snuggly and holds it firmly with virtually no sag. This photo shows the interior of my Lastolite EZYbox Hotshoe 15" mounted on an Einstein using the Kacey AB adapter:

There isn't much room between the Pyrex dome and the EZYbox fabric so Technical Support's caveat regarding use of the modeling light should definitely be heeded.

i know this is an old thread... but why would you rather use an EZYbox instead of a soft box from paul c buff with the speed ring already attached? i cant find an EZYbox for less then $190 and a medium softbox from Buff is 119? im just wondering because i was looking into purchasing an EZYbox for my hotshoes and am confused to why they are so much more expensive? would it not be better to get a Buff box and a hotshoe to speed ring adapter?

The only reason is that I already owned the EzyBox.

You're looking in the wrong place...look on fleabay. You should be able to find one for $60.
Makes a nice hairlight used w/ a speedlight or PCB strobe...
