I recently bought a remote to use with my Canon 430ex speedlite. Only to find that I can't use a remote to fire it because it doesn't have a master option. Will the new Speedlite foot adapter help me?

Please elaborate on all components of your set up, ie camera, number and type of lights.

I have a Canon XTI camera and a canon 430ex speedlite. Apparently my speedlite isn't designed to use off camera as it doesn't have a master's setting. I'm assuming at this point that it wouldn't help me unfortunately.

You could put a CyberSync transmitter in your hotshoe, and attach a CyberSync CSRB to your flash. Camera in manual mode, flash in manual mode. It will fire the flash out to about 150 yards.

you will need the CST, CSRB, and SLFA to connect to the 430EX. The SLFA can be found in our hardware>parts and accessories page, last item. At that point the 430 needs to be in "M" mode and not TTL. Power adjustements will need to be made on the flash unit itself.

Thanks so much! Will the SLFA work with my micro sync unit? I'm just trying to figure out what I need to return and do that ASAP.

Micro Sync or CyberSync? CyberSync, absolutely, and all cabling is included. MicroSync, probably, but depending on which version you have, may require additional adapters.

Micro Sync. I ask because I emailed tech support to ask if micro sync would work with the alien bees strobes as that's my future purchase plan. They said yes but that the strobes required a different jack size and I would have to get a converter. Just wondered if this was going to be the similar situation here.

Both alien bees and the SLFA have a 1/8 sync jack, the Micro Sync has 1/4 and H options. I would get the 1/4" version and get a 1/4 mono female to 1/8 mono male cable from Radio Shack.
