i have never owned lights so bear with my Newbness I am thinking of getting the Ringflash and was wondering if I need to buy a reciever for it if I am using it on my camera to shoot thru? I know I need it for remote but was wondering if I could plug the ringflash directly into the transmitter? And what is the range in feet it is good to? (10 ft..more?) thanks Deer in the headlights.... |

Since I don't have any experience with the PCB ringlight this might be a case of the newby leading the newby, but if the light has the ability to have a sync cord plugged in and if your camera doesn't already have a flash cord sync connection you can get a hot shoe adaptor (The Nikon version is the AS-15) so you'll be able to connect the light and the camera directly. No transmitter needed. |

The ABR800 has a 1/8 sync jack and a 12" cable to connect to the camera's PC terminal. Some cameras don't have a PC terminal, in which case our HSA adapter will fit into the hotshoe of the camera and the PC cord can connect to it. Do not confuse the PC terminal for the flash with the USB connection for your computer. If you use a Sony or Minolta camera, a different adapter would be needed, and those are available at Flashzebra.com Radio Remotes can be used with any of our lights if you wish. TS |

Thanks everyone Maybe I should indicate I have a Canon 1DMKIII if that helps I am also considering adding a 1600 so I will need a transmitter but the main question is whether the transmsitter will be required if I shoot with the ring only cheers! |

That camera has a PC terminal, so no worries, no remote or adapter needed. Also, the B1600 (or X1600, or any of our lights for that matter) has an optical trigger that will fire the flash when it sees another flash fire. So, a transmitter may or may not be necessary (though it would be a rare instance for one to be a hindrance). TS |
