I bought a gob of PB equipment including eight PLM umbrellas which came with the PB speed ring. Because I'm going to be hauling this stuff around, I want as few parts I can lose as possible. This includes the wingbolts used to attach the center rod to the speedring. So...I bought 5/16-24X1" bolts, and nylon locknuts. I used the star washer from the PB supplied kit on the bolt side to keep the bolt from turning once installed and put the bolt thought the speedring and secured it with the locknuts from the outward facing side. This leaves a 3/4" stud in the speedring. So now all I have to lose are the aluminum rods for the umbrella shafts and set up is a bit faster.
