Post subject:  Problem with one of my einsteins
we were teaching a lighting workshop yesterday and I brought out 6 of my lights. Normally we only use 4 lights so the last 2 don't get used too often.

During this workshop I was trying to adjust light #5 via my cyber commander and what was happening was that I was getting a reading of F4 from my rim light strip box and I wanted 6.3 so I bumped the power up 3 or 4 clicks and then I was getting F9! So I bumped it down 3 clicks and then I was getting F4. So I bumped it up one click and I got F9. And then I bumped it down one click and I got F4.

I went back to the light and tried to adjust it with the arrow keys on the back and same results.

Very Bizarre. First problem I've ever had with the einstein. Any thoughts?

just re-tested this morning and I can't duplicate the behavior. Let me know if anyone's ever experienced this.

Were you metering with Cyber Commander, or a separate meter and only adjusting with the CC?

Ok, first, I need to clarify exactly what you were getting. When you metered f/4, did you get exactly f/4.0'0? Or may it have been f/4.0'9?

Second, if you did get f/4, and were looking for f/6.3, "three or four clicks" would have only gotten you to f/4.0'3-ish when you would need f/5.6'3.

*I am only trying to clarify, and not trying to be a pedantic jerk when I ask these question* ;)

Did you meter, adjust, re-meter? Or just meter, adjust, then it jumped that much?

Was it only on that one light?

Are you absolutely sure you got the light in the same spot each time you metered? Or could it have been a metering placement discrepancy (slightly different angle, slightly different view of strip box, especially if it was gridded, etc)?
