Is it ok to keep the units plugged into an outlet and keep the switches on and use a light switch on the wall to power them on and off? Just like if you were walking into a room using your standard light switch to turn on a lamp by a bedside?

It is possible to do this however, it depends on how many units and the model used in this setup.
The Einsteins will not be a good candidate due to it's circuitry makeup. The Alien Bees and White Lightning are capable of doing this but would not recommend more than two units attached to the circuit at a time.
It would be good to check the amp size of the ON/OFF switch. A typical ON/OFF light switch is 15A.

That makes sense. Will check the breaker. Was mostly concerned to know if powering them on and off in this manner was is a concern (instead of using the power switch on the unit). Working in a small room would be helpful to be able to power them on and off from the wall switch. Maybe a good power-strip would be a better option.
