I would like to go the extra mile and create a fire safe charging station.
I read on the PCB website that a metal trashcan with lid can be used. Is there a more elegant solution?

You can use a metal cabinet, or something similar that would be flame resistant, and keep flammable materials from coming in contact with the cabinet.

If you wanted to go two extra miles, Grainger and similar places have fireproof cabinets (~$1000).
