I've been experiencing a phenomenon where an Einstein will suddenly jump up in power, causing overexposed images. I'm using a PocketWizard TTL5, and have the MC2 receivers in the sockets. I was wondering if the AC3 might be causing it, but it occurred tonight when I was just using the TTL5 without the AC3. Is it likely to be an issue with the remote or receivers, or the flash itself? |

It is almost certainly a result of the remotes. However, we are not capable of properly diagnosing the PocketWizard system. I suggest giving LPA (PocketWizard) a call. 802-658-0038 x572 |

I believe it was actually a loose hotshoe on the camera itself! It had come loose before (the symptoms were unreliable triggering, which I blamed poor PocketWizard for until it got so bad it stopped firing altogether and then I noticed the tilting of the hotshoe), and I tightened it, but it came loose again. I didn't think of the hotshoe as a possible culprit for the power level changes, but it seems like it was probably (hopefully) the case. I just tightened it again with loctite for good measure. |
