I bought Einstein strobes this January and I'm getting some use out of them. I've mainly been working with the softbox, white PLMs, and reflector/grids for in house studio work. The Einstein's are great.

I also bought a few soft silver PLM's and I'm starting to think about using them. So here's the question:

When do you use a soft silver PLM vs. the white PLM? What photos work better with one vs. the other? Is there any reading material on this?

Soft silver is good for when you need more output (like outside). It is also good for a contrast-ier light, i.e. less fill in the shadows, and brighter highlights. It is also useful when trying to keep light from spilling to places it should not go.

Once you add a diffusion sock, most of this is negated.

White will spread everywhere, and is good for lower contrast images.
