Unboxed a shiny new Einstein today. Very nice by the way.

But now the CC is acting up again. Last time it was assumed the card was corrupt, so out with the original, in with a new Lexar. Seemed to work fine. Went to set up the new E and CC screen goes black, just like before. Tried batteries in/out, card in/out, both in/out, but the only way it comes on is with the card out. (works fine with it out, do I really need it?)
Put the old "corrupt" card back in, now it works. Arrrgg!

I doubt I will ever save various setups in the near future, so internal memory should work for now. There are two memory slots, correct? Big question is, is there any other reason to have a card in it?

The reason fo rthe card slot is to provide 50 save locations, as well as the ability to update firmware. It is not required to have the card installed to operate the Commander. However, we want all of our customers to have properly working products, so please feel free to contact customer service so we can help you get a working unit.

Thanks, I'll do that. I forgot about firmware updates, those might be important someday. ;)
