I have never owned a Bluff light, but I am on the verge of ordering some of the Einstein heads. There is only one thing holding me back.

I often need to power my strobes from Honda EU 3000i generators. I own almost 30 heads from another manufacturer. Years ago, the technical reps from this company promised me that their heads would work reliably from these generators. However, actual experience has taught me that this is just not true. Some products from their line work when powered from one of these generators, and some do not work at all. That's how I've ended up with so many heads.

I am attracted by the constant color/output of these new lights, but I am a bit wary after my previous experience.

That finally brings me to my question: Does anyone have an actual experience using the Einsteins in the field with a generator? Do they function reliably? What generator do you use? How many heads can you power from your generator?

Any information and all input would be greatly appreciated.

Gordon

*Cough...Bump*

Anybody ?

A local car-accessory place near me often has inverter-generators on sale at ridiculously low prices, and I've often thought about getting on of these and doing away with the the whole battery / inverter / Vagabond / Explorer issues .....

Even though I am taking delivery of a Vagabond II on Tuesday, I have thought of a generator backup. At some time in the future I probably will. Batteries are fine, but I tend to look at them more as UPS' for my lights. Battery backup and protection. We'll see.

In other posts the Honda EU generators got good press but they are very expensive. Luap stated that any generator should work fine with Einsteins as they are designed to handle the power variation. I appreciate his confidence, but would still get the cleanest power I could.
