I am probably not be the first one to do this but wanted to share it with this community. I use Alienbees and wanted to use a modifier similar to the profoto proglobe ($625) . I found a 10 inch acrylic globe at 1000bulbs.com the mouth and neck of which fit perfectly without any modification. I've tried it and am very happy with the results. The only thing left to do is to drill holes in the back for heat release. The globe is about $18-20 including shipping. The effect is very neat, at least to me; it looks like real sunlight but less harsh. I first saw it used by Joey Lawrence in one of his video tutorials. It would also be great if Paul made these available with the holes already drilled, I know he would price it fairly and have no doubts he'll have many buyers.
Here are a couple of the test shots:

Can you post a pic of it mounted?

Great quality of light. Would be a good choice of modifier if you had to setup outside in the wind or if you are shooting in a confined space.

Gonna check this one out.

Thanks.

I have seen where people have found these at Home Depot as well (presumably Lowe's and maybe Menard's, too).

That's a great find Senor_Kasper, just be careful when using that in conjunction with additional lights/modifiers... they may not match colorwise. For a single light though... that $20 globe goes a long way! =] Nice pics, too!
