I'm a beginner and would like some help. I have two Alien Bees 800 and have currently purchase the remote controls to trigger the lights without a sync cord to my camera. Anyhow I also have a Canon 580 EX II flash and wanted to set that one up as a slave. With the lights that I have would it possible to set up the 580 as a slave? if so how?

Hi

I am not a Canon guy but from what little googling I did for you I do not believe the 580 EX II has an optical trigger

See here

What you could do is buy a small hot shoe optical trigger quite cheaply. This might work;

Alternatively, you could use a reciever on the 580 and let the AB's slave off of it. If you have the battery powered recievers, that would be ideal. If you have AC powered recievers, then i would probably go with a slave attachment for the speed lite, or another reciever.

I am using RF-602 that I have purchased on Ebay.

Receiver has hot shoe contact and also cable to connect to studio flash

If you purchase 1 transmitter and 3 receivers, you can trigger all 3 flashes
remotely.

I'm using the hotshoe adapter fired with one of my CSR+ units. Since I can end up short one receiver if I use all my bees plus my speedlight I'll fire one of the bees just off the built in slave. Nice and simple, only downside is that my cyber commander of course can't alter power on my speedlight or the light fired by slave... that's only a problem because I'm lazy. :)

If you wish to use a radio remote, all you will need is a CSRB (if you are using the CyberSync system. If not, a receiver that is compatabile with your current remote system). It comes with all cables necessary to connect to a 580EXII.

If you want to use an optical slave on that light, then check Flash Zebra.com. Some speedlites are more finicky than others, and he has specific reccomendations on his products.
