Hi,

I am wondering what is the current draw for the Einstein? I tried the Einstein on a 1000w Pure Sinwave inverter and it keeps tripping the overload on the inverter. The inverter is a 1000w with 2000w surge rating and I am not running the modelling light with it.

The problem you will run into with many off the shelf inverters is the overload cut off. It sees the spike and shuts off. This may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, so there may not be one answer. You would need a current limiting inverter to sucessfully do this.

Mathmatically, from a 120V power supply at an +/-10A peak draw, you are pulling +/-1200W. (240V inverters would draw +/-5A, same wattage will result). Even though you have a 2000W peak inverter, it can still see the spike in power consumtion and the overload protection will kick in. This can and probably will still happen with even larger inverters. For these reasons (and others) we havecustomized inverters we use for our Vagabond line power supplies.

Ah I see, so if I add a current limiter between the lights and the inverter say to 4 amps @ 240v that would help?

I am going to get some Vagabond mini but I urgently need something for this weekend and can't wait for the back order.

There are no "current limiters" for this purpose. You could try a 500 - 1000W light bulb in series, but wouldn't a Vag mini be a lot more sensible . . . you can run three E640s from one.
