Hello, Cortlander. Even though you do not make money from photography, I second (or third) the recommendation to pick up a CST, it makes the whole experience of using your lights so much more pleasant. If you feel guilty spending the money on it, ask for it as a birthday gift!

It just came in!! I am going to try it out next. I kept the YN622 for the lone 580 EX II because it is in a spot hard to reach, and I do need to be able to change the power. In any case, it is just used as a hair/rim light.

Thanks very much for all the information, Dave.

Works beautifully. Do not need a cable from the camera to one of the lights. Each light is metered without interference from the other. The CC stays in my hand to control the lights. The CST is on the camera, and when I click, all lights fire.

A minor issue, the fit from the CST to the camera (or YN 622) hot shoe is quite tight. Hopefully it loosens up with use.

All in all, the CC, CST and CSXCV make the Einsteins fun to use.

You want it to be tight! Much better than loose, like many of the YN triggers.
