Is it possible to remotely trigger my camera using the Cyber Commander system? I currently use Pocketwizard Plus II's to do this.

Possible, yes. The CyberSync system was not designed for this task, so there are some limitations, and it is not guaranteed to work.

First and foremost, the CS system does not support AF. You will need a "pre-release" cable that activates AF when plugged in, and will either continuously focus, or focus and lock immediately.

Also, the close time of the CS receivers may or may not be long enough to trigger the camera. This is partially dependent on the camera settings, in particular if focus priority is engaged. If the camera does not have focus, it will prevent or delay the shutter being tripped.

Lastly, CSRB's have proven the most reliable for triggering DSLR's. The CSRB+ have triggered Canon and Sony, but are not as reliable on Nikon or Pentax. This data is several years old, but has not been disproven with more modern cameras.

I would not use the Cyber Commander as my trigger, especially hand held. It will work fine in a master camera's hotshoe to trigger a slave camera. A CST would work fine hand held or hotshoe mounted. In any case, a master camera and slave camera will not capture the same flash pop, so two sets of flashes and remote systems are necessary if this is desired.

Tell me about it! It's not even long enough to trip another flash triggers! :?

Last week, I've tried to set up a relay system with CSRB+ receiver and a YongNuo RF-603 (mark II) transmitter, hoping to be able to trip the latter from the former. Didn't work. I can see a trip signal on my oscilloscope, but it was way too short to set off the YN603.

...found a geeky workaround, used the lightning trigger (NeroTrigger to be exact) as a proxy to "elongate" the trip signal. :ugeek:
