Hi board - virgin member here. Please be gentle.

My vagabond let me down on the weekend. It died, after only two or three uses. Yes, a virtually brand new battery pack.

I bought two so thankfully, I had another for my key light.

It was an important shoot. Weeks organising it and after shooting my first soccer team at 7am without incident, it let me down on the second, 32 teams to go.

I used a speedlight for a less than satisfactory hairlight for the remaining shots. My intention was to use Alien Bees for both.

I got her home and read the manual - found the fuses, which were both blown and pulled then out using pliers. I only had 20amp fuses in my bag of tricks and intended walking down the servo to get 30s if 20s had worked. But, with the power switch to centre off position (which I think means the Vagabond is off) the fuse sparked and blew on insertion.

I still can't work out why the fuses blew in the first place - I am careful and the unit is brand new. I fear this must be a problem that means the unit has a serious flaw.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers, Mal from Cessnock AU

That unit should be returned for repair.
