Sorry if this is frequently asked, but i'm new here and to strobist photography. Can anyone help me with this? I own sb 600's and am very interested in buying an AB octabox.

A quick scroll to page 2 of the forums shows:

I'd suggest an umbrella-type softbox (like an Westcott Apollo or an Interfit Strobies) for the speedlight instead - lighter in weight (no speedring needed), much cheaper in total cost and can also be used with some bigger strobes. You will need an umbrella adapter though, but those can be had for like $10-$20. Just my opinion, ymmv.

agreed. If you are looking for a box specifically for the speedlite, go with one designed for such. If you already have the foldable style box, then the link above will help. If you have a standard box, then there are speedrings designed to do what you are wanting to do.
