What would cause an Einstein not to flash when the frosted dome is in place? The modeling light responds properly and I hear the confirmation beep like the flash had fired. As soon as I pop the dome off the flash fires no problem.

Is this a v.1 or v.2 Einstein?

I assume all four of the retainer clips are on the outside perimeter of the glass dome? If one of the fingers is bent in and contacts the right parts of the flash tube, you could have issues. I also assume it is consistent. On it doesnt fire, off it does, on it doesn't, off it does. In other words, you have tried both ways more than once?

Well then - I've got a V1 that acts the simarly with any power setting below -6, however mine is inconsistent. Performance is better without the dome, but not perfect.

With the dome I get 5 of 10 successful
Without the dome I get 8 of 10

Hmmm - totally random, multiple attempts, but I had to try.
I will continue to wait, I guess.

My issue was one of the metals clips was bent and going under the dome and I guess making contact with the flash tube. Its correctly positioned now and working fine. Thank you.

Thanks for checking that, that was the only thing we could make sense of.

mrscott- double check your dome clips. I dont think this is the issue you are having, but may as well check.
