Can these reflectors be painted on the outside? If so, What kind of paint do you recommend using?

Thanks

They should be fine to paint (assuming you mean the metal reflectors like HOBD, 7R, and any paint designed for metal should work. I would buff any smooth surface with a scratchy pad (steel wool, cleaning pad, etc) to give a surface for the paint to adhere to. Also, I would recommend priming the reflector before final coat.

Because of the modeling light, do think using a high temperature paint such as:

would be advisable?

I didn't see a temperature spec for regular spray paint, and considering it doesn't cost much more (if any), it is not a bad idea to go for high temp, though I doubt it is absolutely necessary. Certainly would not hurt anything.

Chico,
Any particular reason why you are wanting to paint them?

If you're going with a Hot Rod motif how about some tasteful flames?

To the OP:

If you want some paint that will stand up to fairly high temps as well as solvents and rough handling, check out Aluma-Hyde II : http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1117 ... DE_reg__II

It's sold by Brownells and I use it to paint rifles, metal and synthetic parts/stocks. Works great and a very tough coating. Doesn't require any primer prep. I've spilled gun bore cleaning solvent on parts painted in Aluma-Hyde with no ill effect.
