Hello:
I have a older Ultra 600 Unit that was working fine but actually shocked me through the body the other day and now the strobe will not fire off. It does make the clicking sound and the Ready light is on and all the controls still operate. I have swapped out the tubes for a known set of working tubes and that did not work and the modeling lamp does work as well. Any ideas what this type of symptom might be?

Are you using a grounded power plug?
Did you check that all the flash tubes leads are well connected to their socket and not touching the shroud? (If you see an issue there, do not touch any of the tube wire without waiting an hour after unplugging your strobes from the AC).

Plug is definitely grounded and I am going to look into the unit a little more tonight. I will let you know what I find.

Sounds like an internal fault. You should send it in to get looked at.

If I understood the OP correctly he received an electrical shock from his U600.

That is such an easy problem to advise on ..............

1) ** IMMEDIATELY ** unplug the unit

2) Give thanks to the Deity of your choice that you are still alive

3) Do ** NOT **, under ** ANY ** circumstances plug it back in again

4) Do ** NOT **, under ** ANY ** circumstances plug it back in again

5) Do ** NOT **, under ** ANY ** circumstances plug it back in again

6) Do ** NOT **, under ** ANY ** circumstances plug it back in again to see if it happens again

7) Do a cost-benefit analysis and do one of these two things, THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS ..................

A) Throw it away

B) Send it back for repair

Hope this helps,

AB.
