Hi!

Unfortunately a lightstand fell over when the einstein was on top. It landed on thick carpet, and on its back (the control panel) so no damage other than a crack on the pyrex dome. I tested that everything still worked it did.

Its been a week or two later, but now the flash won't fire at all. Modelling lamp and all other functions work except the flash. I do hear a very faint click when I press the test button.

I'm suspecting its a problem with the flash tube. Maybe it got damaged with the fall?

Before I order a replacement tube from paulcbuff.com.au at $AU 80, is there a way I can test that this is the problem? I have a multimeter and I'm not afraid to use it.

Elias

There really is not anything that can be tested with a multi meter. You can look to see if there are any breaks in the legs. Also, a crack in the glass can leak Xenon. If the break is small enough, it may take a while for enough to leak out. Also, double check to make sure the tube is fully seated. If it is not fully seated, pull the tube out completely to inspect the legs to be sure there is nothing that looks burnt.
