Today I was out shooting photos. It was quite cold out, maybe 20F degrees with almost constant 20mph winds, the area I was in actually had a 'wind chill advisory'. Anyways, my receivers start to constantly flash a red light where they normally flash a green light? On top of this my that are connected to those receivers will randomly flash, lets say 2-4 times a minute. Lastly my transmitter will just shut off then randomly come back on? No clue why?

I just bought a bunch of Enegizer Advanced Lithium batteries that are rated to work in -40F weather for my receivers. But what confuses me is if the alkaline batteries aren't working in my receivers in this weather then why will my flash manually test fire using them?

I was wondering if anyone has had these problems? Do I need to warranty them?

It sounds like the CST battery is getting low. This could be due to the cold weather (battery efficiency drops in extreme temps), or it could just be that they are getting low and you were coincidentally outside at that time. The CST can rapid fire when the battery is low, thus sending a signal, thus the recievers blink red at every reception of the signal. If the CST is constantly transmitting, the recievers are constantly blinking.

I do not know what lights you are using, but if it takes 15-30 seconds to recycle, they are firing as fast as they recycle, but they would be getting the fire signal constantly.

Bottom line: check/replace the CST battery, and your problems will likely go away.
