I had a similar situation.

We were shooting with some lights and after awhile my UPS which powers my computer started having issues. Beeping, powering off the computer, etc.

I ended up moving the lights to a different circuit and stopped having issues. The circuit the lights were on before I moved them had about 3-4 computers and a few other things and it is about 100 feet from the circuit breaker panel via 14 gauge NM wire.

Surge protectors aren't affected by excess current draw from other devices. They only respond to voltage spikes from lightning, etc. No chance I can see that too much line current could affect a UPS after that load is removed.
