The flash tube and modeling light can be replaced very easily but it sounds like you may have an issue beyond the lamps simply going bad. Tech support will help you trouble shoot what is going on. If you have a V1 it will be replaced with a V2 anyway (for free). Also, I believe that the flash tube, but not the modeling lamp, are covered under the 2-year factory warranty.
To get the lamps out start by removing the glass dome held by the spring clips. The modeling lamp comes out by gently pushing in and turning. When replacing the modeling lamp make sure to wear gloves or use a cotton cloth to keep oils from your hand off of the lamp. The flash tube comes out by gently prying / pulling the three pins out of their sockets. You should probably check out the Einstein manual before you pull the lamps (in case I forgot anything).
