My first suspect would be a low battery in a CST, if one was present (in range, even if packed away). This can be confirmed by the reciever's LED blinking red continuously with the firing.
Second suspect would be a faulty AC supply. This would be confirmed if the LED did not blink red along with the firing. If you are using any extension cord, power strip, etc; remove them, and plug directly into the wall as there could be a fault in one of those. If you still get strobing, try a different power source, as the one being used could be faulty or dirty. Flourescent lighting, A/C units, refrigerators, and the like can dirty the power which can lead to the strobing.
