The inverter should work if connected directly to the battery. The connectors on the inverter are Anderson style power pole connectors. 50 flashes on the battery should be plently low, assuming the battery is reasonably sound.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe you said that using a cigarette lighter type power supply would likely draw too much amperage at that source and thereby trip a fuse and so a direct battery connection would be advisable. I think you said that referring to the the vagabond set and supplementing the lithium ion pack but would that also apply to running the strobes directly?

No, the original question was refering to the OP having a spare VML battery, and he was wondering if a second inverter would just be plug and play with the spare battery to create a second complete VML.

Do not connect an SLA and a lithium VML battery simultaneously.

The recommendation against the cigarette lighter adapter then holds true with or without a VML battery also attached.

A cigarette lighter adapter is ok for light duty AC use, like charging a camera battery or a small portable TV, etc. But the increased draw of flash units would be too much for most cars.
