I'm discovering that my WLs and ABs are both able to handle the 86-inch on the speedring. My only worry about ABs would be the strength of the ABS stand mount.
My physical examination of an Einstein last January leaves me confident that if the AB can handle it, Einstein certainly can.
Older ABs have a Lexan stand-mount, not cheaper AB plastic. Newer ABs and Einstens have Lexan stand-mount with steel insert . . . same as a much heavier $1000 Elinchrom RX600. All housings are Lexan, which costs about double wht ABS costs.
We receive very few reports of broken stand-mounts.
I noted in January at your PPA Imaging trade show display that the Einstein has a steel insert--it's good to hear that the newer AB mounts also have the steel insert.
I should have clarified that my worry about the older AB mount was primarily a fear that I'd overtighten it to prevent movement. I just looked at your parts listing and saw that you're showing the replacement mount as "Einstein/Alien Bee"--that does suggest the latest Alien Bees also have the steel insert if one knows that the Einstein mount has it, but you might want to add that fact to the listing. I can see a retrofit for my ABs in their near future.
