8 or 10 months is just fine. $200K for "one" 1300Ws monolight of course isn't. Given your Einstein 640 at $439.95 is similarly priced to the 660Ws White Lightning X1600, I would expect to pay for the "Einstein 1300" something similar to the 1320Ws White Lightning X3200 monolight priced at $669.

First, the $439.95 price is way low . . . costs are much higher than anticipated and the price will eventually likely have to go to $499.95 at least. But a promise is a promise so that won't happen soon or without notice. As for the Einstein 1300 . . . OK, you've convinced me $200,000 is too much. I think I can do it for $180,000.

Sometimes the wishes of a few customers don't mesh with the realities of a manufacturer.

The purpose of this forum is not a discussion of what people think we should or shouldn't make. Suggestions are welcome, but ongoing threads like this is becoming are not acceptable. This stuff is heading toward the reason we closed the original forum. I strongly suggest everyone here follow the intent of this forum - to provide technical help and info.

I actually have no expectations of the ridiculous notion of additional R&D going into this pipe dream - that's just not realistic or fair.

More, I'm curious as to the feasibility (technical/volumetric/fiscal) of simply adding more capacitors to the current design - with no further modifications.

Beyond that, I simply cannot see anything being viable. If it was simply a matter of "Put in Capacitor banks ZZZ instead of XXX", it'd be one thing, but a lot of people seem to be asking for Einstein II already which I don't think is likely or particularly appropriate.

Do feel free to ignore my request, of course - I am not in any way entitled to an answer to this type of relatively invasive technical inquiry.

In my teenage years this was known as a Blivit . . . . putting 10 lbs of sXXX in a 5 lb bag.

Well, then. Given that The 5lb bag exists, I shall simply be very happy with it and not look toward anything that might make it burst.

Thanks.

Seriously, doubling the capacitors would require a complete new, bigger housing. To get recycle times similar to E640 would also require doubling the size and power ratings of all components in the charging path, bigger fan to cool everything . . . the list goes on and on.

We have a lot of experience selling X3200s and Zeus systems and we know from this experience the sales of a 1300WS Einstein would be only about 5-7% of the sales of the 640WS version. I follow the Laffer Curve in the design and marketing of products and an Einstein 1300 just doesn't fit well on the curve from a cost VS income basis.

Using two parallel E640s makes a lot more sense all around for most users.

Facts of life:

1) Some people are never happy.

2) Some people never learn.

3) Some day we will lose this forum again.

Face it people, the man did not get to where he's at today, by not doing what makes good business sense.

so Paul, are you encouraging the development of multi-headed light modifiers for monolights?
at least once a month now we see someone introduce a new multi speedlight head the holds 2, 3 or even 4 speedlights;)
not to mention the 8-bangers that joe mcnally favors.
