Im looking to replace the 250w modeling bulb that just went out in my X1600 with something higher output. Even 105W CFL's (though large in size) output a ton of light. Can I use huge 250w CFL's (or possibly slighty larger?) with the X1600? How will it respond to being used continually for video work? I am also concerned that existing modifiers may heatup too much (mainly want to use the PLM). However, I know CFL's produce less heat than incandenscant so I am thinking I will be fine here. Finally, will the dimmer switch on the X1600 work with most CFL's and whats a good source for value, high output CFLs?

CFL's should not be used with our lights. First, the model lamp output adjustment will not function properly with the ballast. Additionally, the ballast can add noise or trash into the circuitry and create excessive heat, causing damage to the light over time.

Are there any other modeling lamp options other than quarts and incandesant?

We do not reccomend any other types of modeling lamps.
