Post subject:  Rapid Fire Tripping of Alienbees when trying to hook up CSR+

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the forum and having an issue with trying to hook up a recently purchased Cyber Commander and CSR+ to my three Alienbees B800's in my home studio. I'm following the procedure of hooking up the power through the receiver to the strobe(which has the slave eye plug in), powering up, and then connecting the RJ11 cord. I got through the first two strobes no problem but when I got to the third light, when I plugged in the RJ11, that strobe started firing in rapid fashion. I thought it might be a faulty receiver so I switched it out....and while the light I was working on didn't do it with an alternative receiver....the one I plugged the the receiver in question to, started firing again....and in fact thay all started firing.

HELP? Am I missing something here?

Thanx in advance....

Likely an issue in the power supply. This can happen if the ground is miswired or missing (be sure you are using a 3 prong outlet) or if there is noise on the circuit. Noise can be introduced by motors (A/C units, refridgerators, microwaves, etc.) or from ballast in flourescent lighting.

Try a different circuit in the same building to see if there is any change. If not, try a different building's AC (or a Vagabond) to see if you can isolate the problem.

Thanx TS.....I concluded the same thing upon studying this forum and sent off the receivers this morning back to you in Nashville requesting an exchange for the CSRB+ to avoid my old "groundless" power in my old home. I cleared this with a person on the phone who said all I needed to do is pay for the return shipping for the exchange.

Do you agree that this should help me.....or am I still going to have a problem since the lights themselves are plugged into the same power? I've been successfully using the wired remote to control my three B800's.

I hope the CSRB+'s solve the issue as my clients keep tripping over my three sets of RJ11's.

Thanx for your reply,

Jeff
