I have a CST and CSR. During a shoot it stopped firing the AB800 unit remotely.

I changed the battery in the CST and changed the channel on CST and CSR. No luck. When I press the test on the CSR it flashes red/orange.

I can run a sync cable from the light to a hot shoe attachment on Rebel XT camera and it fires the light fine.

So it has to be something in either the CSR or CST.

What about when you press test on the CST? Also, did you try pushing down gently on the CST while triggering from the hotshoe?

Right. The red LED on a reciever indicates the reciever is transmitting a signal out of the sync jack. This will also indicate a recieved signal from the transmitter. If the test button on the reciever does not fire the flash, pull the sync cord from the reciever to see if the flash fires then. If it does, there could be a problem with the reciever. If not, it could be with the cord. If the light does fire from the reciever's test button, try the transmitters test button. The LED on both the transmitter and reciever should both blink red. If one does not, that would be the focus of further trouble shooting. Be sure your frequencies match, and you test each frequency adjustment 3-5 times to ensure a positive resync.

When I'm reading all this troubleshooting step with more technical information about what the LED mean, what you should test etc... I'm wondering if it wouldn't be worth to create a troubleshooting page with all this information consolidated on the main website.

Not a bad idea. I have been working on organizing some trouble shooting steps, but it is very intertwined. I will discuss with our web/marketing team.
