I just received my Cyber Commander today and I set my shutter to 1/200 and everything was okay. Than I tried 1/250 and my shutter started to creep in the bottom of the picture. I was wondering if there is a way to shoot faster than 1/200 for my shutter speed. I read that it is " allows sync speeds as short as 1/2500 second on compatible cameras." I do not know if the D90 is compatible or not. If it is, what settings do I change on my Cyber Commander / D90?

1/200 is the D90's top sync speed. You cannot go faster than that. Cyber Commander can accommodate cameras which go faster but cannot make a camera that syncs at 1/200 do 1/2500. Sync speed is a camera limitation and not Cyber Commander controlled. To be able to fire at your top sync speed with studio flash is already a good thing. ;)

That is correct: I also have a d90, and 1/200 is the top shutter synch speed.

Thanks guys for the quick answer! Does anyone know if the D7000 can go any faster? I'm thinking about upgrading in a little bit and I was just wondering.

I haven't looked it up, just google for specs but D7000 is likely 1/250.
No need to change cameras to get so little extra. Benefits of 1/250 over 1/200 are virtually non existent.

The known cameras that can go significantly faster (1/2500 or thereabouts) are Nikon's D40, D50, and D70. All other Nikon DSLR's are restricted to 1/250 or slower as far as I know. This includes the D40x. I think Canons had some go to 1/500, but I do not know of the current selection. All other DSLR manufacturers are limited to 1/250 or slower as well.

My understanding is newer cameras CMOS sensors that are generally regarded better overall, but cannot shut on/off as a group, rather they scan. The aforementioned cameras use CCD sensors than can collectively turn on/off. Other cameras also used CCD sensors, but did not include this function. Again, this is my understanding, and I may be wrong.

wow, again thanks for the great answers. Redback, I was looking to upgrade because of better low light performance as well as a few other things, not just for the faster sync speed. But I will look it up on google!
