Post subject:  CC and 400ft range

We have purchased the CC when it first came out. I had one that had a very low serial number, but went dead when the first firmware update came out. I couldn't get it to update for anything. Called CS and got a replacement within 2 weeks (which was kind of annoying given it was in middle of a wedding season but never the less resolved).

This was all around October or so. Now I noticed there is an update of the CC with an antenna and stated 400ft. range. Our unit gets 100ft at the best? When I called CS they said they can't swap it for me? Am I missing something? Shouldn't the CC be advertised as Version 1 and Version 2 then?

I didn't expect this as AB has always been great about things like this. I was hoping there would be an exchange possible.

Makes me hesitant about the VB mini, which I have cancelled my preorder for, as I am worried a version2 will come out and I will feel penalized for being an early adopter.

We will warrant Cyber Commanders which do not perform as advertised when purchased. We advertised the Cyber Commanders sans antennae to have a range up to 150'. Environmental factors may reduce that, in some cases significantly. Those with the antennae are up to 400', which can also be reduced, sometimes significantly, depending on environmental factors. This holds true with any radio device.

Generally, we have only offered trade in programs for devices that did not, or could not be made to, perform as advertised.

Again, this is a technical support forum. I cannot alter or override Customer Service.

Thanks for the reply,

now I feel more like Apple, Canon, Nikon, .... customer.

Exactly why it doesn't pay to be among the first customers buying into a product any more with AB.
