Hi

I just received my Einstein on Friday and I'm beginning to notice that the release for the speedring does not spring back on its own I need to push the lever back to the top... is there anything I can do to fix this, they sprung back at first... I've been using the PLM V2 64" modifier on the speedring.

Thanks,

Matt

I am noticing something similar. My brand new E640 has a silky smooth feel to the mechanism. My slightly older lamps are starting to feel sticky. However they aren't as bad as yours yet. Mine still return on their own.

Is there any spring resistence at all, or is it totally free moving?

There is spring resistance and a kind of grinding/ratcheting noise... kind of sounds like the spring is rubbing against something when I depress the release lever on the right... They seem to lock and occasionally release freely after I let go of the lever (when opening... I haven't dropped any modifiers or anything drastic like that.)

I played with the mechanism last night (opening and releasing many times) and it seems to be returning better now still have a grinding noise but it returns on its own now about 7/10 times using the left release and almost 10/10 times on the right release lever (when facing the control panel)... I can live with it but wanted to know if there's any way to lubricate the mechanism with either a wax based lubricant or graphite?
