Post subject:  AB 400 and 800 modeling lights watts...

Hi,
I remember this has been covered before but I can't recall where/when...
My ABs still have their original 100w modeling lights in service.
What type bulb and how many watts can I safely install for the 400 and 800 lights?
I seem to recall Sylvania 150w. If I am correct is this the max recommended power? I do understand more watts means more heat for modifiers to deal with. I wonder if the the 'old' recommendations hold true for the new more thicker/durable PCBuff soft boxes.
I have some daylight (blue coated) corrected photofloods around but not sure what the wattages are.
I am assuming that I do not need daylight corrected photoflood bulbs for the ABs as I am not using the bulbs for the exposure.
thanx,
Paul

No need for daylight bulbs, but 150W is max. This is not for the safety of the softboxes, but for the lights. For WYSIWYG, you would want a 150W in the B800 and 75-100W in the B400.

Any non-compact flourescent edison based buld should work. We carry the 150W here: http://www.alienbees.com/tubes.html (150W is the part number).
