On the third attempt at uploading V26 firmware on one of my Einstein units the card slipped into the light. The firmware remains at V22 and now there is a micro sd card floating around inside. What now? Do I remove the 4 screws and attempt to remove the card?

I'm very disappointed to say the least. After all the waiting I did to get the lights and then the waiting to get them upgraded I'm still unable to use them. I purchased a pair of MC2 Pocket Wizards as soon as they were announced and here I am with all of this equipment and unable to use any of it!

Can I safely take the screws out of the case to remove the card? Will doing this void my warranty? If I must send it in will Paul Buff send a call tag for S&H?

Sigh..

I would just think about buying another Micro SD card I mean they cost less the $10. I find the card so small that it is hard to handle I had to use tweezers and had to be very careful to get the card into the slot.

Good luck when you get them upgraded the work great with the MC2

I'm on my way to purchase another card and maybe this time I will have better luck. My post was not about the cost of the card but about the disappointment and inconvenience it has caused.Iin my opinion the card slot or choice of media used for updates needs to be changed. I have read other reports of cards slipping inside the light. This should not be an option.

I agree 100% I really don't like little things that get lost so easily and are hard to hold on to. It took me several tries to get one into my wife's Nookcolor ...just to small to make sense...

Best bet would be to call customer service, they will have your records and let you know the service options. We would still warranty the unit, if only the card was removed, but we highly, highly recomend against doing so, as certain things go back in certain places.

E640 ate my card...

Yep, happened to me too. I just got off the phone with Customer Service. Another unit is on the way.

I have had more than a few problems with recent iterations of PCB gear, but through it all the Customer Service at Buff has been outstanding. First rate ... every time. Thanks.

Same thing happened to me about a week or so ago. Sometimes the microSD receptacle doesn't butt-up close against the light's plastic housing and the card falls in.

No big deal - 3minutes and 4 very long screws later, microSD was saved & light was runnin' like a champ.
