I have the cybercommander but I'd like to see if i can fill the included 2gb micro sd card with lighting setups so that I can explore different ideas based on what setups are provided. Is there a link so that I can fill up the 2gb memory card?

thanks

There is not a place to get set ups that i am aware of. Even if there was, there is very little that I can see learned from it when you would not be in the same context. The set ups would have the model of the light and how high it is set, perhaps a name (main left), but there is not distance, modifier, subject or anything else that would be of siginificant value in learning. As well, to download the setup and it be of value at that point would require you to have the exact same lights, otherwise, you will have to go in and program it anyway.

Ok thanks for the response.

You mentioned the programming aspect of the cybercommander. Is there software to help program the cyber commander's lighting patterns or does one have to manually input the settings into the cybercommander via joystick? Also, the supplied 2gb micro sd card is there just to provide space for the light setups but you could technically get away with a smaller micro sd card right? 2gb is quite a bit of memory for storing just light setups.

I really like your idea. I think it would work great in studio, but outdoors where ambient light can change quickly it will take too much time to take the sd card out of the CC place in MAC/PC then program it, then take it back and put it in CC.

Maybe i'm wrong because you will still be able to change the setups via the CC.

No programming is ever done on a computer . . . only occasional firmware upgrades. Your arguments against having to use a lap top to create setups are exactly the reason I chose to do all this in CC.

All lighting setups are created on the CC itself and stored as up to 50 presets on the Micro SD card that remains in the CC. If you go beyond 50 and want to archive them, this is easy to do on a Mac or PC.

TK is correct about it being impractical to use pre-made templates because you would have to use exactly the same lights, modifiers and positions for them to be of much use.

But if some enterprising poster wanted to do graphic/photographic templates showing the positions of lights and modifiers used, along with f stop readings for each light and photo results it would be fairly simple for other users to replicate the setups and light ratios on a CC.

We might do that at some point in the future but honestly my expertise as a great photographer is less than many many on this forum, plus I just don't have the time or studio setup to do it justice.

I might even consider sponsoring a really good studio shooter to create this sort of thing.

Yes a simple app where you can create a template by simply dragging and dropping the lights position, choose the type of light and modifier place the model or object etc. I thought about it.
It's a shame that i can't code. I would love to make such an app for the iOS or MAC because i thought about exactly the same thing when i first read c2thew's message.
