If the CST sits for a while it "goes to sleep". When I push the tiny button on the back it will not cause the red light to come on. If I open and re-close the battery door it wakes up and the button will now cause the red light to flash. Am i supposed to have to go through the step of opening and reclosing the door each time it goes into sleep mode? I don't recall this happening before.... Thanks |

You should be able to press the toggle buttons on the front to wake it up. Left one works for me... |

There are no toggle buttons. Just the frequency dial and the little test button... |

sorry--had the CC on my brain :-) Just checked mine--red light comes on. So, I'd suggest a battery change out, and be sure the + side of the battery is "down in the drawer" and the - side is up facing out of the drawer. CSTs tend to act completely normal, and then suddenly misbehave when the battery charge drops below some threshold. I ordered a batch of batteries on amazon a while back--you can get 10-20 of them for a pretty good price, much better per battery than buying 1 or 2 at at time locally. Keep the rest in the fridge, always carry an extra battery with your gear. That's what I started doing when my CST battery went belly up on me the first time. No more "debugging" now, just swap in a fresh battery and go. |

If the LED blinks at all, then the battery is inserted properly. There is no "sleep" mode on the CST. It is off, unless it is being triggered by the camera or test button. However, the suggestion to change batteries is probably correct. If the LED does not blink at the press of the button, or it blinks three times at the press of the button, then the battery is low or dead (blinking multiple times upon insertion is not a problem in and of itself). |

Thanks, all. I do feel kind of dumb. The simplest solution is often the correct one. I changed the battery and it's fine. I passed over that because I thought the battery was only a few moths old and had not received heavy use. Guess I need to keep a couple of spares in the bag...... |
