Hi,

I've been using the E640 for the past 8 months and they've all performed perfectly, I was doing a bit of maintenance on the lights and noticed that all 5 of the Einsteins have a bit of carbon build up on one of the flash tube legs. Is this normal?

Perhaps you can post a photo, or email us one at info@paulcbuff.com

Charring of the legs is not a good thing, as arcing will affect both the tube and the light itself. However, a photo would help determine if that is what is happening.

Here are the close up photos from two of my Einsteins, both have done around 8,000 flash discharge each. As you can see, where the rubber looks scorched there is a layer of carbon built up.

Thats on the insulation and nothing to cause concern. The issue described above would be if the carbon was on the actual metal.
