Post subject:  Planning purchase of Einstein setup

I am planning on purchasing a set of Einstein E640 strobes and radio transceivers/transmitters to replace an aging Dyna-Lite pack/head system.

To that end, my thoughts were to go for four E640 strobes as a starting point. I am currently using Pocket Wizard Plus receivers and a Plus II transceiver on my Dyna-Lite system. I had been thinking about getting the Pocket Wizard plug in receiver for the E640's, but started reading about the Cyber Commander and the CSXCV transceiver, and had some questions:

I assume reading through the forum that the issues with triggering from the CC to the CSXCV have all been resolved? (The Plus/Plus II setup has been dead reliable, never a missed shot, the PW Mini-TT1 by contrast will fail to trigger about 10% of the time, very annoying!).

If I went with the CSXCV and wanted to use the CC for setting light levels, etc., is the CC a good option to also use on camera to trigger the E640's, or should I get the CST to trigger the E640's? The battery life on the CC is troubling, the PW Plus II batteries last an amazingly long time, I rarely even think about the batteries int he Plus/Plus II units. Based on the CC spec of 3 hours battery on the CC that is a killer, many of my shoots last longer than that, I'd have to have extra batteries with me at all times.

Is it advisable to get the 7UR Umbrella Reflector for all of the E640's?

Anything else I should think about converting from the Dyna-Lite setup to the E640's?

Thanks!

That battery life is based on screen on time. In real world usage, your screen is not on all that much. The unit can trigger without the screen on. Even still, a CST on camera frees up the CC in the hand for use in metering and adjusting, so it is not a bad option.

That depends on your intended usage. That reflector is a spill kill type reflector. Our 7AB/R or 8.5HOR will work with umbrellas as well as grids.
