| Post subject: | Canon 7D and CST Trigger Transmitter. |
| Hey group, Brand-new to this external flash photography thing, I set up last nite for my first trial of my PCB gear and my CyberSync™ Trigger Transmitter was not recognized by my Canon 7D for triggering my B1600's. Any ideas? I tried to adjust settings within camera's menu settings, but still no luck. For some odd reason though, my OLDER Canon 40D worked, just plug and play. Anyone out there have any ideas? Any help would be great. Many thanks! Marshall. Chicago, IL. | |

| If the CST works with the 40D then is sounds like the batteries and communication channel are all good. Maybe it is a connection issue. Try pushing down gently on the CST while you snap a frame. Also try inserting the CST backwards (the center pin is the one that counts for triggering so this helps diagnose connection problems). Also, were you using LiveView? | |

| No, I wasn't using live view. I know there's been like 1 other time I've tried just a hotshoe mounted flash on it and it took some work to recognize - so maybe that spot where the pin contacts the camera is a little iffy. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give it a shot! MWB | |

| I have used a CST with a 7D many times with no problems at all. This is probably specific to your particular camera or CST. | |

| On many/all Canon's, it is possible to effectively turn off the hotshoe. It should be in the custom menu settings in the part that deals with flash. Make sure that the hotshoe is enabled. Also, as suggested, press down on the transmitter and attempt to take a photo. This may force contact of the CST to the hotshoe. Also, with the CST not in the hotshoe, can you connect the CST to the camera via the PC cord to see if it fires then? | |

| Hey guys, Again, many thanks to everyone for the quick replies - great gear and a great bunch of people on here ready to help! As was suggested, a little press down on the CST helped make the contact with the hotshoe - so it works fine now! Cheers. Marshall | |
