| Hi, this is my first post. I'm using a 5D and a 40D with MC2 and Pocket Wizard mini. When I change the FEC on my 5D the modeling light on my Einstein does not adjust. The power stays the same as well. Nothing on back of unit changes. But when I put the same mini on my 40D, it works fine. The modeling lamp adjusts power as I adjust the FEC. It's driving me crazy trying to figure this out. Just got this brand new 5D, and this feature is not working like it does with my 40D. I'm not changing anything between the two. My 5D has the most current firmware. Same MC2, same Einstein, same Mini. Hoping someone can shed some light on this. Thanks. | |

| The model lamp control is a function of the transmitting device. Other users may know the answer, but you may be better served contacting Pocket Wizard for a definitive answer. | |

| Unfortunately I contacted Pocket Wizard, they referred me to the MAC Group for support, and MAC Group said because it involves the MC2 I need to contact Paul Buff. | |

MAC group should not even be involved for this type of trouble shooting. Give us a call on Monday and ask for David. We will get a direct line to LPA's tech support. Unfortunately, we are not going to be of much help, as we did not design the transmitter (or reciever, for that matter) and our understanding of thier system is not immense, especially as it differs from one camera to the other.

| I have received quick responses from Ian at Pocket Wizard's "beta lab" when I had an issue with MC2. Feedback/issues can be sent to PocketWizard via the “Inquires Form” on their “Contact” page or simply email them to betalab@pocketwizard.com and put "beta" in the subject line. Ziv | |

| Thanks very much, I called the number and got the help I needed from Ian (and then some). The solution is this: The 5D does not display the adjustment in real time as does the 40D. But it does display it. Though, not well. While the 40D adjusts the modeling light/power in real time when holding the FEC and turning the dial, the 5D only shows the new adjustment after you use FEC and THEN press the shutter halfway. The reason this wasn't obvious to me is that there is usually a significant delay. And, it seems very inconsistent. In my brief test on the phone with Ian, a couple times the FEC adjustment showed up right away, but usually it either took like 20 seconds or else it didn't show at all until a shot was fired off. Ian then told me the best way to use it is with my AC3, which actually does show the adjustment in real time. I am extremely grateful for the help here. Thanks very much, you guys are awesome. Can't wait until I can order more Einsteins. | |

Some cameras might not send the info at certain times across the hotshoe pins. Sounds like the 5D only transmits this info when you half-press the shutter and the 40D has a different protocol where it transmits it all the time. It's just Canon doing different things, so blame them :D
