How long has this brand been around and do you have any plans of updating them soon.

I'm currently using einsteins and a white PLM as my key light when shooting still life. I would like more power at times, maybe 1200 or 2500. Will this set up be ideal 2500pack+Bi-Tube Flash Head vs. Speedotron brand?

Just looking for an economical and convenient way to shoot, whether i'm in the studio or location.

Thanks
Chico

Zeus was introduced in 2007, and there are no plans for any updates.

If you are doing still life, I would not get the Bi-tube head, as its advantage is faster flash durations (though you can run two packs through it for up to 5000Ws). You will get the same amount of light from one pack through a standard head, which has a lower cost.

I am not intimately familiar with Speedotron, but I am not sure what they would offer for your needs that Zeus could not provide.

Is anybody else using these heads/Packs. Any Videos?

John Fisher over on model mayhem uses them:

What exactly do you need to know about them?

They plugs are compatible w/ the newer Dynalite packs.
They only odd thing is if you lower power, flash duration increases instead of decreasing...

I have both a Zeus bi-tube and a Speedotron 105 (quad tube).

Both offer similar flash duration, though the Zeus is slightly faster and less expensive (considering new prices.)

The 4-cable version of the Speedotron 105 can output 9600Ws, which is almost double what the Zeus BTH can handle. The Zeus system is much smaller and lighter. A Speedotron 4800 WS power supply weighs in at 37 lbs, I think. A couple of Zeus 2500's will be under 25 lbs total. I like how easy it is to store the Zeus packs and did not get a second Speedotron pack due to the size.

Fitting the PLM to the Zeus is going to be easy, but I've used the umbrella shaft to mount to the S105 head.

Hope this helps. I'd recommend the Zeus in most cases, though you should be happy with either.
