I've been doing some research for a couple months now on different lighting systems. This will be my first studio strobe purchase. I've been taking the Einstein into serious consideration, but have some specific inquiries regarding the product.

I plan on using the Einstein with a Mola Setti. I know that this involves having to purchase an adapter from Kacey Enterprises. I plan on using the Einstein and the beauty dish on location and at times, maybe on a boom or painters pole via Kacey's adapter.

I live in Texas and the area I'm in is windy most of the time (5-15mph), would there be any issues with the Einstein being able to to stay attached to the Mola Setti? I ask this due to the issue that the Einstein has with its fingers when used with some third party speed rings.

Also, if you have used any of Kacey's Elinchrom adapters, what do you think, have you had any problems with the light modifiers staying attached to the Einstein using this adapter?

I know these questions are more toward those who have owned the products mentioned and have used them in conjunction with the Einstein, but if you have any feedback from your own personal experience or from what you have heard, please let me know. These questions, until answered, are the only things that are really keeping me from making my first studio purchase.

I use a Kacey adapter for the Mola Demi with my Einsteins. It fits well with fingers in the locked position. Even though the Setti is heavier and has more torque you shouldn't have issues with it falling off.

Regarding using the Setti outside with wind go on YouTube and check out a fashion photographer named Emily Soto. She uses the Setti outside, at the beach, on an Alien Bee with no issues. However, she always has assistants who can help with stabilizing the stands. Perhaps you can get in touch with her to ask about her experiences.

Ventana,

Thank you for your reply, I took a look at some of Emily Soto's YouTube videos and found what I was looking for. However, you have raised another important question. I wonder how the Einstein mounting system will fair with a larger/heavier beauty dish than the Mola Setti?

Also would you happen to have any pictures of your Demmi with the Einstein?

Again, thank you for your reply!

BTW, are you sure you really want to lug a Setti around for location shoots ? I've used just about all the dishes out there including the Demi, Setti, Euro, and various Profoto models. The Setti has nice light but is a serious pain in the ass to move around. It's heavy and very bulky. I'm not sure what you're shooting but you may be able to get away with a much more portable solution with similar quality of light. For example, the plastic Kacey dish is actually very light, portable, and great in the wind. The Speedotron dish is also decent. When you're using this stuff on location it's going to get banged up. It will ruin your day when your $600 Setti gets its first ding.
