I have a Vagabond that is approximately 2 years old. I charged it recently to use it and after 24 hours, the green light still wasn't lit. I disconnected it from the wall plug and noticed it was extremely warm. I figured it needed to cool but 6 hours later it was still hot. In order to be safe, I disconnected the battery from the inverter and placed the battery outside. I noticed there was a bulge in one side of the battery but after testing it, the Vagabond was still powering my lights..... it was just very hot. I've probably only ever charged it and used it maybe 10 times.... but unfortunately it went several months without being "topped off."

Has anyone else experienced this issue where the battery does not seem to cool down? I'm thinking the battery is pretty fried but I'm hoping the inverter isn't. I see PCB is no longer selling the Vagabond II's and I've come to the conclusion that it would be better to buy a new battery instead of upgrading to the mini. I'd love any feedback on this. Thanks,

That is indicative of a sulfated battery. A replacement battery should be all that is necessary. We sell them here: http://www.paulcbuff.com/b20a.php, or you may be able to find one locally. Also, if you would like us to take a look at the inverter for extra piece of mind, you can send the unit to us, and we can perform any task necessary. There is a 2 year warranty on the inverter.

I am a little worried about the inverter and I just verified that it has not yet been 2 years since I purchased it. That said, how would I go about sending it to have it check out? Thanks,

The same thing has happened to mine. Bulged and does not charge or work...
I'm looking for a replacement battery. What is the type of terminal used in the vagabondII battery? can I use any 12v20ah SLA battery? with any terminal type?

You can use any type of connector, however, you will need to source your own cables if they do not match up. You will want at least an 11Ah battery (these will be smaller, and not fit as nicely in the bag). The terminal types are a female thread, though I do not know the exact specs at this moment ( i can update on Monday), though some L types can also work with no modifications and a couple of nuts.

The battery terminals are 10-32 threaded female type.
