I just received my X1600 unit yesterday afternoon. I didn't get around to testing it out until this morning.

I have the X1600 plugged into a wall outlet, not the Vagabond II. As I understand, the modeling lamp should not be used when plugged into the Vagabond II.

The modeling lamp is depressed (ON) and set to 100%. The range switch is released to show that the modeling lamp switch is depressed (comparison). The ready light is green (not shown in the picture because the unit is powered off). The bulb is screwed in all the way. Here is a picture of the settings:

Everything else seems to be working fine.

If I don't find a solution, then I will call PCB when they are open on Monday.

Edit: I've taken out the modeling lamp bulb and placed it in my normal house lamp (from IKEA) and the bulb works fine; so it's definitely not a bad/burnt bulb.

Try one more thing. Unplug the light and remove the model lamp. in the bottom of teh socket you will see a small piece of brass. Pry this up a little and replace the model lamp, and try again. Different bulbs can vary in length of the base so the Ikea may reach it, while the model lamp may not. If it still does not work, give Customer Service a call.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

Yes, I figured (and hoped) that might be the problem. I used my finger to bend/pry it up to make sure it makes contact with the bulb. No luck. And I know it is touching because when I screwed the bulb back in it pushed the brass piece down a little bit. The bulb has to be making contact to do this.

I will give Customer Service a call tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

That does sound like a fault in the circuitry. Please contact Customer Service, and tehy will assist you in getting that corrected.

Just received my new X1600 yesterday. Very pleased with PCB's turnaround time with the replacement. I will be sending the defective unit back tomorrow.

Since I finally have a fully functional X1600, I went to assemble it with the beauty dish. But when I placed the sock over the dish the elastic snapped just like that. I didn't pull or stretch it very hard at all. In fact, it was about 90% on the dish before is snapped.

Just called PCB and they are sending me a replacement. Great customer service, but I never thought I'd have to put it to this much use...especially so soon.
