Hello, I have an Einstein and a couple of PLM soft silver umbrella's. For video work and maybe some photography I am thinking of playing around with some cheap halogen 1000w continuous lights (I doubt I would ever use them at the full 1000w). My question is, can I use my current PLM's as modifiers or will the hot halogen melt my PLM or cause them to burst into flames? Also, what about the white diffusion fabric add on's. Can I expect them to burn up if put too close to a halogen bulb? I can paste a link to the cheap lights I am thinking of trying if that would help... |

We have not done any testing with high energy continuous lights, so we cannot recommend their use. Using the front diffusion panel will limit the cooling and heat dissipation of the light, so any problems would be exacerbated by its use. |

I doubt overheating the fabric would me a problem, specially with the larger PLMs, but the shafts will get hotter than H*** I wouldn't use front diffusers as this would trap too much heat. |
