I have intermittent problems with an X1600 failing to fire. If I wiggle the flash tube I can often get it to work, but i see no logic or pattern as to what works. Short of sending the unit back, is there anything that I can check?

First, pull the tube out and check the legs. If they look charred, then the light has arced, and whole unit will need to come in. If not, swap tubes (if you have another one of our lights, any Bee, Ultra Zap or X- light will work for testing) and see if the problm follows the head or the tube.
